I have been a musician since the age of 11 when I first picked up an instrument. It is generally understood that just because one begins to manipulate sound it does not equate to musicianship. I adopted this label of "musician" because I decided to commit to pursuing a creative path, one that would undoubtedly have many sharp turns and flat tires, but that could offer me the promise of a life devoid of dullness and drudgery.
I received classical training at one of the finest schools in the country, but so have a lot of other blowhards who slosh their drinks around at parties. I have tried to distinguish myself from this crowd by moving beyond the default styles and applications of music. My primary interest lies in augmenting modern media in a manner that is surprising, but pleasing to the ear.
scene 4. Nikola’s Return to the Allmuseri
Nikola was met by Samson and Klapaucius when he returned to the Allmuseri. The former comrades at first sniffed at him as though he were an animal. When they recognized him, the two refused to re-link with him. Using some of the charm he learned of Lucy and the Madi, particularly the charm of speech itself, Nikola first undid Samson’s proud resistance, and at length won over the skeptical Klapaucius. The reunion was like a rediscovery of friendship then. Once Nikola told them of his experience, they were entranced as he had been with Lucy. Word of Nikola’s new speech and the story of his travel then spread through the Allmuseri people, winning one admirer after another.
Nikola’s popularity was short lived, however. Triggered by the old defenses lodged in the Allmuseri’s group-based technology, a new and secret cabal of protective forces appeared. They imprisoned Samson and publicly butchered Klapaucius as a traitor. Only Nikola’s secret friends among his people saved him from a similar fate. In despair but considerably less naïve for these experiences, Nikola fled into the wilderness toward the only refuge he knew—Lucy and her Madi village.
